Forbes-500 Company Returns Onshore
Disillusioned with the quality of service and the "lifetime" cost of outsourcing development to India, one of the world's largest financial institutions has taken the unusual step of moving the support and development of a major e-Commerce web site from India to the UK.
Edinburgh-based software developer Electrum has taken over support and development of the site from one of India's top 3 software consultancy groups. The site has over 100,000 active users in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Stuart Harper, MD of Electrum said "Although the current trend is to move development off-shore, early adopters find the promised cost savings don't always materialise. Off-shore daily rates are attractive, but often cancelled out by delays and the lack of flexibility and agility. By contrast, Electrum deliver a quicker, higher quality service with lower overall costs."
