Project Brief

Scottish Equitable creates hundreds of terms letters each year for use by clients and intermediaries. These documents must be accurate and consistent, and often have to be produced and updated at short notice; therefore they are expensive to produce. They are normally produced using traditional typesetting methods or by manually editing or creating a Word document. Electrum worked together with Scottish Equitable to create a solution based on MS Word and smart templates that reduced timescales, costs and errors.

Our Solution

Electrum developed a smart template in Microsoft Word that enabled terms letters to be quickly and accurately created in MS Word.

Basing the solution around MS Word allowed the authors to use familiar tools and stay in control, and Electrum’s smart template technology ensured the documents were accurate and consistent, and looked as though they had been professionally typeset.

The use of Word enabled users to proof and correct documents in MS Word before converting them to print-ready PDFs for high-quality printing.
